Hardware resources
To run several instances of cTrader and cAlgo opened at the same time does take hardware resources. If they are running on a local computer or on a VPS the proper hardware has to be in place. On a local computer it is recommended at least 8GB ram memory to run everything without problems, especially if you are doing other tasks besides trading at the same time, a SSD III drive is also highly recommended, around 256GB preferable. The CPU is not a crucial part of the setup but I5 Intel or a high end AMD is more than enough to run everything smoothly. If you are trading without a VPS a UPS to take over if electricity outage is occurring during your trading session, surely very nice to have as an extra backup security. The monitor/s using while trading should be on the low range regarding the display latency, under 15ms is perfectly fine. The mouse and keyboard has also to be taking into consideration when setting up a good trading station, both should be programmable with shortcut keys. Everything is added up when it comes to latency from the hardware, especially if you are trading manually from your local computer to the brokerage server.
On a VPS it's a little different because the cost of the hardware compared to a local computer are very high. The most important cBots should be run on a VPS, it will give peace of mind in case something happens with you local hardware and also it will handle orders and positions as fast as the latency will allow, <10ms from the broker to the server is very good, even lower is better. A combination of a good local computer and a fast VPS is a perfect combination especially if trading higher volumes and in combination with manual trading.

Quick Trade button too small or too big?
Hi joel,
A bigger quicktrade button? Never had the impression that it's too big, on the contrary my impression is, it's on the borderline of being too large of being acceptable.
With the higher resolution on monitors around the corner like 2k and 4k it probably will be perfect. What kind of resolution are you using? If you are using let say a resolution of 1366x768 on your monitor it must be close to your preference, a 2560x1440 or 4k it might come across as too small for you, depending on the size you are used to trade on of course. It's all a matter of what we are used to I guess but the best would be if the Quicktrade button was selectable in a smaller or a bigger size.

Max drawdown
The max drawdown accepted depends on the strategy at place and the trader's risk tolerance. The higher the risk per trade is the higher the drawdown will be overall. So to keep the drawdown low, the risk per trade has to be set to low. The risk per trade can be set between 0.3-1% of the equity with larger accounts and slightly higher with smaller accounts. The total risk of the account with several positions in the market has to be taking into consideration as well regarding the drawdown. What is an acceptable drawdown? Under 10% is very good, around 15% is acceptable, 20% is on the higher side of acceptable.

Broker 1.0 cBot
There are no problem running several instances of cTrader. To have control though on all the accounts and brokers connected can be a challenge.
Broker 1.0 cBot will take care of that. Detach the running Broker 1.0 charts in cTrader and resize the window, then place the windows strategically on your monitor/s screen to give you a good overview on all the accounts opened, brokers name, account numbers, currency, leverage and if the accounts are demo or live accounts.
Broker cBot is free to download and use! It can be run on both live and demo accounts without restrictions.
Download and information link: Broker 1.0 cBot
There are only two parameters to fill in before starting the cBot.
The "Account Balance" parameter gives the balance and equity information of the profit and loss in both the amount and in percentage since the cBot was started. The "Funds" parameter will give the trader information of the profit and loss in amount and in percentage since the account was funded.

Simple mood
fxMinnow,
a simple mood would definitely make cTrader and cAlgo run more smoothly. Just by selecting what we want and need in the interface, would be just great. I am all for a simple mood if it is possible. Different levels of advanced mood and simple mood selectable by the user. I like the idea of this.

Asian countries
Good it worked out for you. I have not had this problem you are explaining. Even though I have been traveling to others, not so reliable countries when it comes to the Internet connections. It might have been a problem momentarily with you provider where you reside. On the whole the Spotware and their platform with cTrader and cAlgo is very dependable. Furthermore Spotware has widen their coverage in Asia to give us traders a much better coverage in case we trade in India, China or other asian countries.

Excellent idea

I have a web interface where I can access on any device's web browser showing the status of my robots running on a VPS. I can then pause, stop or re-start them from a smart phone, tablet or desktop.
You can implement a simpler solution by storing the state of the robot somewhere on the local machine and reading this state from your robots.
In the future I maybe Spotware will build this functionality into the platform so that non-programmers have more control, but it may need a 3rd party plug-in to be used until they do.
Is there only a few people interested in this feature or is there many?
Hi Paul_Hayes,
It sounds like an excellent idea to have this control on cBots running on a VPS from a web interface. We are still in the very early stages and in the beginning of a revolution when it comes to trading platforms, VPS and the external control by the retail traders. W10, Android, Linux and other OS will bring this forward on small devices like small computer devices, tablets and cell phones. Your idea is great and hope you will be working on it and bring it forward.

Dear Traders,
We are aware of the issue with 4K resolutions. We plan to optimize graphical performance in the future.
What is the max resolution for ctrader. I plan to buy 2560x1440 monitors , Could I use them?
Should not be any problems in that resolution. The problem as many has pointed out is in 4K resolution.
Spotware is aware of the problems in 4K so they will probably make a fix to address it.
I am more concerned about the problems for programmers to really use the 4K resolution. We don't have the tools to really make it visually appealing to the end user.
I am talking about ChartObjects.DrawText which only has very limited font and size properties, everything gets really dwarfed the way it's presented in higher resolutions.
This I hope that Spotware is working on as the 4K resolution is almost soon to be expected as the main stream resolution for most monitors.

There is a solution
TraderM,
this is something I have been posted about several times on the forums. Very important if one cBot wants to control other cBots. This is especially of concern if the main robot is a RMM robot that handles the risk & money management overall. There is a solution that is working fine and that is the Scyware.com RobotLink. Some coding needs to be inserted in the main cBot and in the other cBots as well, but fairly easy to accomplish. I agree however that the best would be if it is a function that is included in cAlgo itself for us to use.

The Traders Aid cBot, aid the trader with crucial order and position information.
It's free to download! Traders Aid 1.0
It can be run on both live and demo accounts without restrictions.

The Traders Aid gives the trader control over how many orders are placed, and how many sell and buy positions are opened, and the total in positions and lots. Also how the profit or loss are in pips and in amount. Color coded so the trader can with just a glance see, if he is in positive or negative territory with his positions. The risk in percentage and in amount on all positions are shown. The free margin from the broker is displayed to keep track on how much margin left the trader has at his disposal for new positions.

Beats me!
Well "moneybiz", your are not alone here, we all like to be able to choose different fonts and sizes in cAlgo. I would love that possibility, as it so much needed! Why do not Spotware see this as a must enhancement to give all the programmers more control of the screen real estate? Especially now when screen resolution is going higher and higher on our monitors? Beats me! Hopefully they will answer this question and do something about "ChartObjects.DrawText()" and eventually upgrade it to today's standard of resolutions.

The Spread cBot
nealkaplan, the spread is definitely very important information and need to be easily accessible on every chart.
Have a look at the free to download: The Spread 1.0 cBot
The information are color coded for a quick insight when the spread is within the preferences set up by the trader. There are only two parameters "High Spread" and "Low Spread". The chart window can also be resized to a very small size so it does not take up that much space.

Borokers cTrader server
This is a question that is still held in the dark for many traders.
Where do the broker have their cTrader server and what is the latency to that server?
A list on all the brokers and where their main cTrader server is located would be very helpful.
Traders are trading from all over the world and some traders prefer that the brokerage cTrader server is as close as possible to where they live. The reason for this is of course to limit the latency and execution time to the server. We would like a more openness and information on this from the brokers and Spotware regarding server location and latency.

GS66,
Yes there is a minimum hardware configuration to be able run cAlgo and cTrader. However when buying a computer it's nice to know that one can run several instances of the platform and have many charts and cBots running at the same time without running into problems.
The cpu you were thinking of using is on the lower side regarding speed and is compared to an I3 Intel. An I5 Intel is recommended if you want to be future proofed that the hardware is fast enough for trading. 8GB Ram is a good choice from your side. A SSD drive is also what you should look into because everything will run so much smoothly for you and also in case a required reboot of the computer is necessary, the bootup speed will then be so much faster than a traditional magnetic disk hard drive.
I wrote some suggestion down on this thread /forum/ctrader-support/7356?page=1#4
